EigenSecret: Hello! One-click Login

| Introduction

Hello, here is EigenSecret~

I believe most of you must have seen these pictures when swiping your phones.

Even maybe some profiles of your friends come from here. And the picture shown below made NFT popular on the Internet with a high price of $69.35 million.

Stephen Curry, a famous American professional basketball player, bought Bored Ape Yacht Club with $180,000 as a Twitter profile. Think it’s incredible? What’s more surprising is that some pictures are not even “pictures”. With only white words on a black background, they are traded for up to $900,000. If you are a beginner investor in crypto world, you must intend to find out the reasons and mechanisms behind these incredible transactions. Has the whole world just gone crazy? — Sure looks that way, doesn’t it?

In fact, this is not the case. The pictures that people purchase at high prices are actually a kind of NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens ). Because of its scarcity, NFT is collectible for investors and has become a favourite in the new Web 3.

However, as a collection relying on the blockchain, NFT requires users to learn blockchain knowledge and remember the secret words of their wallets before participating in NFT transactions. These conditions will hurdle countless Web 2.0 users from participating in the transaction.

EthSign project leader once put forward such a view: in the future, the crypto world will be divided into fully centralized one and fully decentralized one. The former will actively embrace supervision and act as a bridge between the crypto world and the traditional world; The latter will maintain its destructive power and constantly expand the territory of the crypto world.

Not surprisingly, those large groups of web2 users hindered by technical difficulties will enter the Web3 world through this “bridge”.

Just like the telegraph username and WeChat ID, as a unique mark in its specific world, participants need an ID as basic information. In the Web 3 world, ID is also a necessity. However, the unique ID of Web3 is exceptionally complex, challenging to remember and cannot be changed. Most online applications require users to connect their wallets first. This means that users need to install the wallet plug-in in advance and create an account. Compared with this cumbersome identity system, if you can log in directly with the unique ID of email, WeChat or Facebook, all the problems will be solved.

At present, many applications have supported the third-party one-click login function.

About Us

EigenSecret is here. Similar to Google login, EigenSecret’s one-click login functionality will become an alternative to decentralization. EigenSecret will provide a secure solution to link different decentralized identities and simplify authentication.

In our current plan, EigenSecret will support two login methods: Gmail and Facebook. Users without blockchain knowledge can quickly have their own identity on the chain, and we will guide users to encrypt mnemonics timely so that you don’t have to worry about losing private keys.

In addition, EigenSecret will also simplify various complex processes that new users may encounter when interacting with dApps (decentralized application). Users no longer need to worry about complex private key management issues. As they further study blockchain technology, they can easily use other customized functionalities in the wallet.

Of course, in addition to the simplification of the registration and login process, logging with a third-party account also has many user-friendly functionalities. For example, when you designate Mr. Eigen as the guardian on the chain, but he doesn’t know. You need to send relevant events to him through SMS or email in time.

You may have doubts in your mind now: if the identity on the chain is bound to the Web2 identity, won’t my identity information be mastered by the centralized server again? This doubt is widespread, according to Manta’s interview with more than 400 industry practitioners last year:

73% of respondents would avoid decentralized transactions because of privacy issues; 84% were worried about linking wallet addresses and real identity on the chain.

Worry is superfluous. There is no centralized server in the Web3 world, and all identity information binding is completed in the decentralized node. When signing a transaction, the user can also sign a specific file through the private key (wallet) he already acquired, or the private key produced by social media accounts such as email and Facebook, and save the digital signature and relevant operation records on the chain. In contrast, the signed agreement file will be encrypted and stored in the decentralized storage network.

The end-user interacts with the decentralized identity stored on the user side. We divide this stage into two modules: private key management and identity management. Private key management consists of software and hardware wallet and identity mapping protocol to help users manage private keys and sign with private keys. For instance, Torus and Fortmatic are identity mapping protocols specially used for web2 user access. They can produce public-private key pairs for users through their existing email, Google, Facebook, Twitter and other accounts.

One-click login has become more and more common. We believe that more user-friendly, convenient and safe solutions will appear soon, benefiting all users in the Web3 world.
